Our traditional rondavel African designs are a marvel to modern architecture and our drive is to promote exquisite modern eco-dwellings that blend with the environment, while offering comfort and convenience.
With the vast challenges engulfing people in towns and cities, a huge population is now considering retreating to the rural areas, subsequently creating a huge demand for rural land in Africa. There are great opportunities for rural real estate, particularly in developing social and economic centres, providing ideal lifestyle accommodation and facilities for rural tourism as well as agro-plots and building factory shells for value addition; and all these designed and fashioned to assimilate with the rural outlook.
We are forging partnerships with the local community leadership as well as the Rural District Councils to structure local and community based rural infrastructure investment projects that are commercially viable in every rural district as a key to rural development and industrialization.
These are simple, distinctive geometric forms of African designs, making full use of traditional construction methods, available materials and the capabilities of local labour. They will feature rondavel thatched roofs and constructed to incorporate existing environmental features like trees and rocks, with the overall effect of buildings blending with the native landscape, which almost wholly comprises traditional rural architecture. The interiors will be finished to a high standard of luxury with local artwork, crafts and furniture.
Our focus is on biodiversity-friendly infrastructure built using locally-sourced construction materials as much as possible and building around the natural surroundings with minimal disturbance. The focus will also be on infrastructure that function using natural resources. This will include use of solar and wind power, biogas for cooking and heating, rainwater harvesting, and sustainable waste management systems for sewage and kitchen waste. We collaborate with engineers and experts to develop environmentally sound plans. The vernacular architecture will include careful placement and orientation of each structure and dwelling to take into account solar gains, natural lighting and natural ventilation. As much as it is important to have a place of luxury, the idea is also to create a development that will be an inspiration for off-grid and sustainable living. Natural resources should be recognized as a key element of the development and conservation to its benefit.
